We are right next to Piazza del Duomo in Orvieto, so the best two landmarks you can put into your maps app are:
Duomo di Orvieto
or
Restaurant Marizio Orvieto
Dropping Bags and Parking at the Duomo
If you’re arriving by car, the best place to drop your bags is in Piazza del Duomo near the parking lot just south of the Duomo - see image of the parking lot.
Parcheggio Duomo Orvieto "Luigi Carli" Coop Sociale
If you can find a spot in the parking lot, you can stay for an hour for 2 euros, or you can get a 50% discount for a day pass by showing them your reservation. For more details on parking here, visit the parking lot site here:
Parking In Campo della Fiera
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a spot at any time at the parking near the Duomo, so you make have to drop your bags near the Duomo, then park at the Campo Della Fiera parking arear, which is about a 10 minute walk through town.
Parcheggio Campo della Fiera
You can simply take a ticket at the entrance and pay at the kiosk before you leave. If you’re staying more than 5 nights, though, ask at the staffed attendant window about their monthly passes.
Directions:
Walk toward the escalator, but turn right before you get on the escalator. Down the gallery and to the left is an elevator to take you up to the city walls. The view is fantastic, and it’s a faster walk.
Orvieto Train and Bus
For such a picturesque city that feels so far away from big cities, Orvieto is really well connected by train and bus located on the main line between Rome and Florence. You can simply catch the train to Orvieto station.

Benvenuti a casa nostra! (Welcome to our home!)
Palazzo Cartari's entrance is in one of the most photographed side streets of Orvieto a few feet from the Piazza del Duomo.
Once you’re in Piazza del Duomo, text or send Daniele a Whatsapp message to let him know you’re about to arrive: Daniele - +39 348 731-8517
When you’re done admiring the Duomo facade, simply turn left and proceed up the Via del Duomo towards town. You’ll see some pottery shops on your left.
In about 30 ft, immediately past Restaurant Maurizio, turn left. You’ll see a small courtyard. Yes, you can stop to take a few pictures then head up the stairs.
Accessing the Salone (shared common area)
Once you're at the top of the stairs, text Daniele again that you're at the Portone. He will send a command to unlock the door.
If you have large bags, please be careful with our big, antique doors. If the bags won’t comfortably fit through the left door, you can step inside and left the two bars holding the right side to open both doors. Please make sure to set them again when you’re done.

Accessing the Apartment
Our door is the second on the left.

There is a lock box in the top drawer of the dresser to the left of the door.
Open the top drawer.

Open the top drawer where you’ll find a lockbox. Daniele will send you a code to open the lock box.

When opening Italian doors, you may need to turn the key several times to the left or counter clockwise. Turn until the key stops smoothly and the latch opens on the door. It will swing inward.
Welcome to our home. We hope you feel at home.
By the way, keep reading below for instructions on how to exit and enter the apartment after you have the keys.
Exiting
Make sure to take the keys with you whenever you leave the house. By the way, did you remember to close the windows?
The door will latch after it closes, and you’ll need the key to open it again. So make sure you have the keys before you leave. The best way to remember is to put the key in the lock on the outside before you close the door.
Close the door, and turn the key to the right or clockwise a couple times to lock it.

If it’s dark, you can press this button to turn on the common area lights. They’re on a timer, so don’t worry about turning them off.

The double doors to the outside are called the Portone (the big door) and are common on most Italian homes. To exit, press red button.

The lock is also on a timer, so you can just pull the door closed behind you. You do have to use a little effort to close it until it locks, but please do not disturb the neighbors by slamming it. Dealing with heavy doors is one of the quaint idiosyncrasies of being in Italy.

Entering
When you reach the outside doors (Portone), simply use the key marked Portone turning it counter clockwise a little. You should hear a loud click telling you it’s open. Simply push in the left side.
Once inside, you might need to turn the front door lock counter-clockwise until the latch opens.
